Poppa Piccolinos

Holmfirth is a wonderful Yorkshire town, most famous for being home to the BBC TV series, Last of the Summer Wine. However, that’s not all it is home to as it is also where you will find Poppa Piccolinos, a lovely little Italian restaurant that has been serving the locals for the best part of two decades.

Make sure you start off your meal with some of their freshly baked breads, their bruschetta in particular is well worth seeking out. You’ll find all the usual classics on their menu and they’ve got some great Italian wines like Valpolicella, Aglianico and Amerone that’ll match perfectly with your food.

Throughout the week they have different offers to take advantage of too, including a special Early Bird rate, Kids Eat Free on Tuesdays and a Steak Night on Friday (the perfect way to start your weekend!). Cin cin!

La Grillade

Located in the heart of Yorkshire’s beautiful city of Ripon is a stylish, Italian treat, La Grillade.

Here you can reward yourself with oodles of delicious traditional Italian cuisine – pastas, pizzas, risottos… the lot! What’s more, Ripon’s magnificent cathedral provides a stunning backdrop to the restaurant too.

The menu is packed full of great options, the Bolognese is a firm favourite whilst the pizzas are fresh, filling and tasty. The restaurant’s décor is clean and bright whilst the staff are friendly and knowledgeable too, which is great. What is a real bonus though is the price. This is one of the most affordable yet quality restaurants in Yorkshire.

For special occasions, you should definitely take advantage of their private dining area which is the perfect place for entertaining a private party of up to 40 guests.

WARNING: La Lanterna Ristorante is not a restaurant to visit if you’re after pizza. However, if you’re after a more refined form of Italian cucina, comfort food of the highest order – game, risotto, pasta, hazelnuts, chocolate – and, of course, the Lanterna’s speciality, truffles, then this is the one for you!

Now a Yorkshire institution, La Lanterna Ristorante has stood on the same site in Queen Street in Scarborough for almost 40 years now. The influential Italian daily newspaper La Stampa described La Lanterna ‘the English temple of Italian cuisine’.

Chef Giorgio mouthwateringly blends the deep, warm flavours of his youth with the freshness of the local produce that surrounds him in his adopted town – most notably, the fish. Each evening the Lanterna menu has a mind-boggling specials list of fish dishes – and every last piece guaranteed to be so fresh, you can still smell the sea.

La Lanterna is Michelin Guide Recommended, Which? Good Food Guide and AA Guide Recommended, reflecting the highest quality of cuisine on offer.
